I suppose you could argue that if you continued to travel east, you’d eventually end up back in the ‘west’! However, the idea behind this theme was to consider ingredients and flavours typical of Asia or those parts of the ‘eastern world’. Interestingly enough, a lot of Asian countries do not have ‘cake’ as we know it but more dessert like sweets such as those in India, which wouldn’t have been appropriate for our means.

But cakes we got and with a variety of classic flavour combinations and exotic spices. Ginger, cardamom, coffee, pistachio, nutmeg, rosewater, saffron were all featured.

Our hosts for the evening were The Terrace in Saltaire. A very big thank you goes to them for their hospitality.

Here’s what you missed if you weren’t there to enjoy our eastern experience:

A final thank you goes to all of you who came along and who kindly ‘donated’ your leftover cake.  I thought you might like to know that it raised £74 towards my adopted charity Hale.  Isn’t that amazing?  Thank you so much.
