March has all the signs of spring with the days getting longer and the colourfulness of bright yellow daffodils starting to make a welcome appearance. The theme for this months’ Clandestine Cake Club in Saltaire was designed to conjure up such images of all things bright and beautiful. It didn’t feel much like spring though as we all arrived at our secret rendezvous as warm coats, hats and gloves were called for on a very chilly evening.
Our hosts for the evening were the very hospitable and welcoming team at Massarella’s, a café, wine bar and art gallery in the heart of Saltaire village.
During the day the café serves high quality homemade food which includes soups, sandwiches and cakes. They also do a great cappuccino and pot of tea which I can vouch for as I thoroughly enjoyed both with my cake.
As ever, we had a fantastic range of cakes according to everyone’s interpretation of the theme. Here are some pictures from the evening for you to enjoy.
There was so much enjoyment of tea and cake that I had the unenviable job of reminding everyone of the bewitching hour. With only crumbs left in evidence of our party after the left over cake was divided up amongst everyone to take home, we said our goodbyes.
And it’s a very particular mention and thank you to our hosts at Massarella’s; we couldn’t have been looked after better. Thank you.
