Let’s face it, we all love eating cake or is that too much of a universal statement? Be that as it may, what better way to beat the guilt trip than to ensure there’s ‘one of your five a day’ on the menu? Such was the theme for Saltaire Clandestine Cake Club’s April event. We had fruit: pear, apples, elderflower, lime, plums, orange, fig and banana. We had veg: courgette, beetroot and squash. It was interesting that we didn’t have one carrot cake – one which I would have expected.
We had a fantastic selection of cakes all with exceptionally creative interpretations of the theme. I was delighted to be able to welcome a few of our coeliac suffering members who had four delicious gluten free cakes to choose from. I don’t think they could believe their luck!
Our hosts for the evening were The Terrace in Saltaire and we couldn’t have been looked after better. A very big thank you to them! It proved to be a great venue, being tucked up on the first floor area all to ourselves.
Here are some piccies of the evening:
As there was only crumbs left at the end, everyone seemed to have given their thumbs up to this month’s theme and left feeling the healthier for it!

Crumbs indeed! I so enjoyed the ‘healthy’ cakes last night, in fact so much so, I was happy to go without any cake today, so there’s some saved for tomorrow! Lovely to see the photos of everyone’s hard work and all different too. Happy cake memories! 🙂
Thanks Jo. Yes, very happy memories.
