The 1st of August dawned bright and extremely warm to welcome Yorkshire Day 2013. In fact, it turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far. Undaunted by the heat, there was every manner of activities across the county to mark the occasion including us at Saltaire’s Clandestine Cake Club where we are proud to fly the Yorkshire flag!
Our ‘Yorkshire’s Finest’ event was very kindly sponsored by Yorkshire Tea who provided festive balloons, bunting, table cloths and lashing of Yorkshire Tea.
The temperature of the day matched the extremely warm welcome extended to us at 211 The Deli our hosts for the evening. We couldn’t have been made to feel any more at home.
Due to the stifling heat, we gravitated to the outdoor terrace and spent a most pleasant evening of delicious cakes and Yorkshire Tea. So a very big thank you to everyone at 211 The Deli for helping to make it such a great occasion and of course our sponsors, Yorkshire Tea.
The creativity of the cakes and interpretation of the theme were again outstanding. The trade mark emblem of Yorkshire, the white rose, made several appearances.
Local Yorkshire honey and raspberries, ginger and Yorkshire Tea itself added delicious flavours and textures. It was great to have a couple of gluten-free cakes too.
I’ll leave you to enjoy the spread …
A final thank you again to our hosts, 211 The Deli and Yorkshire Tea.211 The Deli 211 Bingley Road Shipley
