The theme for tonight’s event was set in the expectation of August being the height of British summer with plenty of warm sunshine. However, the rain was pouring with a definite chill in the air as we arrived but it certainly didn’t dampen our spirits and enjoyment. There was an added excitement as we were honoured to have some special guests to enlighten us on all things to do with tea!
The delightful Ann & Paul (Mr T) from The Tea Experience provided an excellent whistle stop tour of the history of tea; their knowledge and enthusiasm were palpable and very infectious. We were informed about the types of tea from white through to black tea and everything in between including a brief history of the origins of this fascinating plant.
We were treated to some tastings during the evening of that Ann & Paul had very cleverly matched to the summer theme of our cakes and the combinations really did work well.
A demonstration of the charming flowering tea bloom was a delight. This has won them a very prestigious Great Taste Award and rightly so as it was delicious.
To end with, we were generously provided with a little packet of tea to take home and try too.
A special thanks must also go to our lovely hosts for the evening were The Terrace in Saltaire. We were extremely well looked after and were made to feel so welcome and comfortable. Thank you very much!
Besides tea, there was of course our cakes. Without further ado, here they all are:
What could be nicer than an evening of tea and cake and it was just that. A final thank you to Ann & Paul at The Tea Experience and also to The Terrace.
